Volumetric Surveying

line

Volumetric surveying is a type of Topographical Survey used to quantify and track material moved or placed on a construction site, gravel pit, or landfill. Construction contracts typically pay by the unit (square or cubic meter) for materials moved or placed on construction sites and land development projects.Once multiple surveys are completed, then DTM’sare created so we can use our software to calculate cut, fill or area calculations between the surfaces.

Some examples of volumetric surveying include:

  • Topsoil removed from a new construction project
  • Square Meter calculation of placed asphalt
  • Calculation of structural fill placed on a new road
  • Amount of gravel remaining in a gravel pit
  • Amount of gravel
